On Wednesday 29 April 2015 7 Regiment RLC’s football team beat 30 Signals Regiment in an exhilarating match to win the Army Major Units Championship. Cheered on by nearly 250 soldiers from the Regiment, the evening fixture at the Army Football Stadium in Aldershot lived up to all expectations. Following early goals in both the first and second half from Private Laidler and Private Woolley respectively, the match became more tense when 30 Signals Regiment scored to make the tie 2-1. Further goals from Private Woolley and Lance Corporal Wilkinson but the result beyond doubt, with the final score 4-2. A stand out player all season, Private Woolley was named Man of the Match.
7 Regiment RLC now look forward to securing both the Lincolnshire Services league and cup competitions, whilst soldiers from the team will also be rewarded for their Army Cup win at Wembley Stadium on 25 May 2015, where they will walk out on the pitch before the Championship Play-Off final.
