Royal Army Ordnance Corps Association

In partnership with the RLC Association.

The Royal Army Ordnance Corps Association was formed in 1923. The Association has thrived since the Corps’ amalgamation into The Royal Logistic Corps in 1993 and today has 14 regional branches, four specialist branches, three trade branches, three sport branches and is a thriving community providing fellowship and fraternity to former members of the Corps. The RAOC’s branches are all self-supporting, with their own chairman, treasurer and secretary. Governance of the Association is by the RAOC Council. The RAOC Officers’ Club is open to all officers who were previously commissioned into the RAOC and officers who were soldiers in the RAOC and later commissioned. The Club organises one dinner a year.

The RAOC can trace its historical roots back to 1299. The Board of Ordnance was established in 1683 as a department of government, responsible for supplying and maintaining military equipment such as ammunition and weapons and the building and maintenance of military infrastructure.

Following a number of short-lived ordnance organisations, both the Army Ordnance Department and the Army Ordnance Corps were formed in 1896. In 1918, these two organisations were amalgamated and granted the ‘Royal’ prefix in recognition of service during WW1, thus creating the RAOC.
