Reserve Officer passes out of Sandhurst

Congratulations to all the Officer Cadets who have recently passed out of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

Reserve Officer 2nd Lt Matthew Ovens of 150 Regiment was one of those who has completed his Commissioning Course.

He said that the best part of the course was “Doing our Casevac down the wish stream on our last exercise – a Sandhurst tradition.”

The course he recently completed is the Commissioning Course Short which takes eight weeks to complete and is based directly on the Regular Commissioning Course.

It is an intense, challenging course designed to teach the fundamentals of soldiering and develop Officer Cadets as leaders.

Someone who holds an Army Reserve commission will have learned a wide range of valuable leadership and managerial skills that can also be used in the civilian workplace.

The RLC Aquatics open water swimming team made history! Led by WO1 Shawn Bailey MBE, the incredible team completed a two-way swim across the English Channel, from England to France and back again, with a total swim time of 22 hours and 16 minutes. This phenomenal achievement marks them as the first ever mixed military relay team to conquer this feat, and the first in RLC history to do so. Since 1875, only 48 other teams have achieved this, and they are the only military team this century to join them.Through relentless training, unshakable determination, and exceptional skill, they also raised £7885 for military charities during our journey. Huge congrats to the team: WO1 Shawn Bailey MBE, Maj Clive Allford, Maj John Howell, Maj Paul Vidler, Capt Lucy Powell, Cpl Kelly May and Cpl Emma Meechan #WeAreTheRLC #youbelonghere #wesustain ...
